Comments
Comments: Skinny but solid monorail most of the day. 3-4 inches of powder covered all with some deeper drifted sections. I wore my snowshoes for stability and traction on the uneven surface.

I decided to go directly off the steep back of Field. It was a good challenge getting down through cliffs, ledges, slides, and thick growth. Another time I would probably head farther toward Willey to avoid the worst steeps. Woods opened up nicely toward the bottom and I cruised to West Field on the solid snowpack. Headed northwest out to the A-Z trail through intermittently thick woods.

Things were hopping at the Zealand Hut. Several groups were enjoying themselves with PBR tall boys. I changed some gear and headed about a mile up Lend a hand before wacking up South Hale through easy woods with occasionally nasty bands. A quick bite and conversation at the hut then the grind back across to Tom by headlamp. Stars were incredible. Quick descent back to the Station and the drive home with a beautiful moon. Great hike despite the late start.
