Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Dirt road up to Ferncroft had a hard winter, but I negotiated it in a Honda Civic.

Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Wet/Sticky, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush

Recommended Equipment: Light Traction 
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Birch tree holding; could have crossed on rocks without it, but it was definitely the best way to go.

Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blowdowns but just one was inconvenient.

Bugs: Two spiders, small, sluggish, and irritated.

Lost and Found: There's a Tracphone and a glove in the plastic case at parking.  
 
Comments
Comments: There was no snow on the road, but the monorail traces started immediately when the trail left it. Spikes were good for the puddles on the trail that had frozen. Going up, spikes were fine -- coming down, after sun had been on the snow a few hours, I could have used snowshoes. The path down to the noth viewpoint had not been touched in a week or two. A few spruce traps there.
