Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Regular parking lot bare and dry. At the Development, at the - cul de sac - one can park at the entrance. One had tried to drive in earlier in the week and decided it was a bad idea after 50 feet.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Spring Snow
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I came in from the Stoney Brook Development, but checked out the big crossing. It was open and all rocks had ice caps, but saw that below the open pool there would be a possible place to cross. The next two river crossing were also open but with microspikes I was able to cross. Once temperatures rise they would be quite difficult.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns. Trail a bit muddy in section on the logging road portion, but otherwise in great shape; no postholes.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Toby had no problems with the monorail. Could actually walk in the woods without sinking in. Plenty of water up to the last crossing.

Comments
Comments: I got an early start to take advantage of the cold temperatures in the morning. The trail was covered by 2 to 3 inches of fresh powder. The monorail was solid, no postholes. I barebooted to the top but used my microspikes on the way down. By the time I came back to the water crossings, around noon, the snow had started to soften up. No recent foot traffic on the Carter-Moriah trail to the south, though one could make out a trough from previous travel. Some one had come up from Bangor Street on snowshoes with a dog this morning but was gone by the time I arrived (10:30)
