Comments
Comments: Dry trail mixed with a little mud in the lower couple miles. Also, one place where it seems that one of the smaller streams has diverted into the trail for a 100 yards or so. Once we got into the switchbacks, the trail became snow-covered, which turned to monorail and mush by the time we got to the one very long switchback. That one mile stretch was made more difficult by the fact that the new snow settled in on an angle, and the saplings that have sprung up are really hanging over the monorail, so there is now a 12-18 inch deep trench pressed up against the trees on the downhill side of the trail (downhill from where the monorail is). Above that switchback, the snow was much better. Ridge had a couple gusts of wind, but not as bad as expected. Beautiful weather and met another group (Doug, Bill, Darcy and Peter - I hope I got those right!) and one solo hiker so quite busy for a Friday in April!
