I was the only person I saw today with snowshoes. They were very useful from about 3000 to the summit of Haystack, especially on the way down. Everyone else was barebooting, I think they were jealous of me and my snowshoes!! The ridge was easily barebooted, no ice just a few patches of snow. The descent was a little scary because of all the slush around the steep, rocky sections. A lot of the snow on the trail at lower elevations will probably be gone by tomorrow. |
