Could not stay inside so decided to go to Jackson. Started at almost 4pm. Snow was still soft in the sun but as the clouds developed snow hardened and was firm. Carried snowshoes but spikes were perfect. No postholing. Got to the summit just as the first clouds were covering the summit of Washington. Spectacular views in the grey light. Started sleeting on the way down. Hard to say what shape trails will be in tomorrow -- but they were perfect today. Thanks Michelline and Gus for going on the spur of the moment and for such a great day |
