This 13.5 mile trek was epic...to say the least. We broke trail from start to Polecat. Started off breaking thru 4 -6 inches of crusty snow to junction of N.Carter. Snow became wet & sticky making for an exhausting trek, as our snow shoes continuously balled up. This continued until we got to the Wildcat Ridge. The constant dripping from the trees added to our frustration since we got good & soaked. We missed the left turn that starts the switch back up to Wildcat A and ended up bushwhacking in waist deep snow. Do NOT follow this bushwhack!
We were rewarded with incredible views since the snow pack is so high.
Great challenging 12 hour day with Bill Cronin. |
