See Jeb's post. Steve Barbour and I departed Galehead Hut first. We had to break trail from the Hut, along Garfield Ridge Tr, to the junction of Garfield Tr. The snow was soft, heavy and deep. Many sections of the ridge had 4-5 feet of snow. It was very tiring but gave us views that I have never seen on the ridge. Snowshoes were mandatory. Even with shoes we were postholing. Steve did more than his share of trail breaking:) Thanks for a great out Steve. |
