Comments
Comments: Trail was in good condition going up; we wore microspikes until the steeper section on Liberty Springs Trail, then switched to snowshoes for televators. As the temps warmed up, the snowshoes were also helpful not to churn up the trail or posthole. Wore the snowshoes for the rest of the day, right back to the car. Almost everyone we saw was wearing light traction, and the trail shows the evidence of this. The snowpack is softening and we saw quite a few knee to thigh deep postholes along the edges of the trail. With the incoming rain/ice/snow, maybe some of the damage will be erased? Franconia Ridge Trail on the ascent to Flume is rather drifty, but since we did an out and back, there is some trail established. Great day out with John in NH, with some beautiful views, spring weather, and some excellent butt-sliding!
