Comments
Comments: trail dry and in great shape down low minus the usual muddy areas. kudos to who ever is maintaining the trail and has already done some nice draingage work this spring. where the trail turns into the spruce/fir snow patches begin to appear. shortly thereafter it is full coverage with a spine developing in some places and a couple bare stretches. by the time you are on the ridge there is roughly 2-3 feet on snow remaining. leaving starr king the main tracked route follows the trail and then deviates from it for a bit before returning to it and following it to the summit of waumbek. on the return i was able to follow the trail proper, for the most part, but the other route is the more obvious one at the moment.
nice views of the presidentials from starr king and the blowdown area just past the summit of waumbek. nice to be out.
