| Comments: |
Still lots of snow on the Hancock Notch trail (starts off bare for the first 1/3 mile, then patchy, then pretty thoroughly covered). Extended muddy bare patches on both Cedar Brook and Hancock Loop trails - my microspikes took a beating. Some ice while ascending North Hancock, all easily negotiated. Between the peaks the conditions were fantastic - hidden monorail, but the snow was firm enough that we didn't need to break out the snowshoes. Soft spring snow for the descent off South Hancock - fast conditions if you're good at boot skiing, completely lousy conditions if you have terrible balance like me. The walk out was not so fun as the snow pack increasingly softened... |
