What a difference 24 hours makes! Brand new snow overnight ranging in depth from 4" or so on the road walk to 10" or so plus drifts in the switchback section, trough was hard to see in some sections. Three of us took turns breaking trail in the wet, heavy snow, but even the 2nd and 3rd person didn't have it easy. Warm temps made for slightly sticky snow down low, with more powdery snow up high. Trail is reasonably packed for the moment. Snowshoes probably a better choice than light traction until trail is packed out by more hikers. Great day out with Schorman and Lady Di! Glad Schorman is back out and hiking. |
