| Comments: |
Tuckerman Ravine Trail's a packed highway. Lions Head was fine. The snow field is. (was) well consolidated. Wore microspikes/trekking poles to Lion Head steeps. Switched to crampons and ice axe. At the snowfield, went back to poles. Carried snowshoes all day. Winds kicked up at the Lion's Head- rock hopping among snow and ice patches was dicey in the gusts. Coming down, ice and snow steps made the steeps easier. Only saw 8 hikers. All had crampons and ice axes. Tonight's snowfall may cause drifting and obscure packed trail. |
