THANK YOU to everybody who broke out the trail since Thursday's snowstorm!!! A few people are bare-booting which is starting to make a mess; snowshoes are definitely the way to go, esp. in the higher elevations where much snow is still powder on top/unpacked. Beautiful sunny weather with clouds rolling in and out quickly due to high winds; got a view of entire Pemi-area with all its peaks :) I consider it a lucky final winter peak. 2 side notes: 1) connector trail to Galehead Hut not broken out at all; 2) upon returning to the road walk, snowmobilers had also broken out more of the hiker's roadwalk (this morning it was only a footpath made by snowshoes; now it is wider) |
