Glencliff is well packed and I used micros on it without issue, although snowshoes would have been useful on the steeps. Unfortunately, I left them in the car and the Carriage Road had significant drifts. I fell into 2 spruce traps and found myself up to my waist in snow. (I'm 6'5".) Lots of post holing and very tiresome until treeline. Snow blown off above treeline and micros were quite sufficient.
In general, lots of snow and little exposed rock. Could have used snowshoes the entire way. 5F on top, sunny, and winds gusting to about 50mph. Saw 2 pairs of folks skiing up the Carriage Road. Saw 3 other couples coming up Glencliff, 2 couples with snowshoes, the other making my mistake. Good day to be out. |
