Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: It's a ski area in winter. Arrive early, or come mid-afternoon, otherwise expect to walk or even use the shuttle from overflow. I was able to park in lot 1 only a few cars down from the trailhead at 7:40AM. The lots were pretty full at 10:30.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Wet/Sticky
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The main two crossings up the trail were bridged. The crossing along with the seeps at the trailhead were open but easy to deal with.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: As always, this trail is in impeccable shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one out enjoying picking up sticks, very friendly lab. Lots of dog poop in the middle of the trail (might have been from yesterday), please clean up after your dog if they do that please!

Comments
Comments: The trail was well-broken the entire way, though drifted a bit on the ridge. None of the side trails (Sosman, and the 2 Mt. Tecumseh links to the summit) were broken out. The bootleg ski cutover at 3000ft was broken and being used here and there it appeared.

The snowshoe trench was soft with the warm temperatures, snowshoes were unquestionably the best option today, as expected. Lots of folks heading up as I descended. 50-50 mix of snowshoers and barebooters/spikers with a couple skiers skinning up. Down low the trail was holding up to the booters, but up high there were a couple post holes and the trail was a bit churned up. It will probably freeze up tonight so it might be a bit lumpy, just to warn folks.

I had not been to this summit in a bit over a year, but I was aware of the unauthorized cutting on the summit. I didn't however realize just how extensive the cutting was. The view is probably very nice now (it was socked in when I was there), but this isn't the way it should happen. Half the summit area was practically clear-cut.

A nice quick morning jaunt.
