Didn't meet up with many hikers. Probably since I started so late [10:30]. The snow was so well packed that weekend. It was the perfect winter trail. I wore my crampons only because I really wanted sure traction when I got above tree line. Microspikes would've been enough for most.
I know that it's kind of late posting, but I did want to point out that that solidly packed snow UNDER the trail is NOT packed OFF the trail. While hiking up the trail, I noticed a lot more "urine spots" along the trail. I mean - a lot. At first I thought there must've been a lot of dogs, but later in the day…I realized why, when I took a step off the trail to relieve myself. It was like walking off a 3" ledge! Be careful. |
