Comments
Comments: Up Lowes & Randolph, down Randolph, Grey Knob, Lowes w/party of 6. At least 2 others did same route. Lowes + Randolph to col well broken out and packed, alternately used snowshoes & light traction to treeline then light traction. Summit unusually boney with bare rocks between deep drifts. Almost no ice. North summit approach via Cornice not broken out; east approach via Gulfside was better and less windy. A few icy spots on the steep part of Lowes near Log Cabin. Grey Knob Tr. broken out but still a bit soft. Some tricky but boot navigable sidehill angles on Gulfside below summit, likely to become evil slide-to-your-doom opportunities as things melt & turn icy. This approach was perfect for a windy day--did not get full wind until the col.
