Comments
Comments: Finally a spring like day! Trails in great shape and were very hard packed snow, very little ice even on the steeps, all avoidable. Some sections of the steeps were a little soft later in the day. Wore snowshoes up the steeps and summits, worked well with heels lifts. Others used micros or crampons up. Descending the steeps I switched to full crampons and was happy with that choice. Would definitely recommend at least bringing them, as it would be very difficult to descend this very steep trail with just microspikes, especially given some smushy snow in sunny areas and the forecast this week for lots of little snow showers to put some powder over base.

Since it was such a pleasant day I headed over to Greeley Pond after and walked across it (frozen very solid) to the far shore with its excellent views of the cliffs on Osceola and Mt. Kancamangus. So warm I think I fell asleep for a bit.

Great chatting with Keith; and also Al A and Linda--thanks for the grid inspiration!
