Great day out! -2 to start but by the ridge, sun was bright and warm and no wind at all. Trail up to Webster Cliff trail is hardpack. Micro spikes to this point. Over to Eisenhower was less pristine with some significant drifts and obliterated trails from snow blowing. Put on shoes and chose to keep them on the rest of the day. Group of 5 heading up (I passed along the way) were in microspikes all the way until I met them again on my way back from Eisenhower. They didn't do much damage to the trail as its quite consolidated and i was able to smooth out the drifted areas that they walked through. There was some limited post holing from about 1/2 mile before the loop junction on my way to eisenhower caused by 3 barebooters heading North to South. Again, no big deal and I did what I could to smooth them out. From Pierce over to Jackson and down to 302, hardpack with 2-4 inches of fresh snow. All in all, beautiful conditions that should also be great tomorrow. Get em while they last..... |
