Trail well consolidated down low. Microspikes were fine but don't venture from center of trail or you will post hole. Once you start climbing not as consolidated, recommend snowshoes. I'd swap out at "White Mountain National Forest" sign...it's all uphill from there...quite steep uphill at that. Great butt sliding on way back down. Timing was off...snowing on summits, when we got back down, of course, the sun came out and it was beautiful! Met nice gentlemen visiting the state that did AT last year North-South starting in September...obviously one avid hiker. Would have loved to chat with him longer but it was quite chilly when not moving. |
