Comments
Comments: Zealand Road packed out solid with nice ski tracks to the side. Barebooted to the hut in some pretty good snow squalls. We put on snowshoes at the hut as the snow pack got much looser there. Trail would qualify as lightly packed at best, snowshoes needed. Snowladen trees on this side.

Twinway much less traveled past Zeacliff, evidence of a trench . Around 3 feet of snow at Zealand summit judging by the sign. Evidence of a trench with 6-10 inches of snow with a crust to Guyot which had some windblown and frozen granular areas. Windy and cold there with some snow in the air. Heavily drifted in the scrub and trail towards Guyot shelter spur (which had not seen much use) Ascent to West Bond spur also drifted and loose but once to the spur the trail got better. Delighted to run into Sunshine and Bobcat and we chatted a bit near the summit. Ascent to Bond was loose, summit blown clear . Trail to Bondcliff was drifted in places and bony in others. Very windy coming up out of the valley..coldest spot of the day. Easy ascent to Bondcliff where we celebrated Emily's W48 finish!!!

The step off partially filled in and easy to get down. We kept snowshoes on to the flats where the trail was hard and barebooted or used spikes the rest of the way. Nice to run into Carl who finished an over 70 W48 on Bondcliff. Excellent!!! Sometimes its about the lists, sometimes the weather, sometimes the company. This traverse had it all with a great group and everchanging weather and trail conditions. Thanks to Jeff, Karine, Cynthia, Al, Joe, John and Pepper for a great hike. Congrats to Emily for her W48 finish!!! Special thanks to Valerie who helped with a carspot in the morning, hiked into the hut with us, then met us back at Lincoln Woods with coffee, water , and a GREAT assortment of Big Macs and Double cheeseburgers...life is good.
