| Comments: |
Don't even bother with snowshoes at the start of the IMP -- it's far too choppy from bare boots on once soft snow, now frozen. Light traction works well if you place your feet in the footprints left in the snow. Snowshoes are optional after the first mile or so, but not necessary. The trail is packed and frozen. We were treated to gorgeous views of Washington right before the summit, or, where we guessed the summit is. The marker is buried! We had the trails to ourselves today and only two other hikers, who were headed to the hut. |
