Comments: A huge thank you to those who broke this trail out last weekend!!! The whack seemed a bit high but maximized time in the birch glades and avoided any scrappy stuff so I liked it. Also thanks to those who posted this week. The trail is indeed still a sidewalk, with just a half inch to inch of fresh powder on top. Some were in snowshoes, some in microspikes, either is fine until next snow event or warmer temps. The micro's weren't leaving any divots deeper than an inch. The postholes at the end of the Engine Hill bushwhack were from moose, not me!!! The steep summit spur was fine in micros, just had to kick some steps when they wouldn't bit on the powder covering.

A year ago almost to the day, my group was forced to turn around after 5 hours of trail breaking more than a foot of snow (ok Greg YEAH! did the breaking) to near Davis Path, so I really appreciated the efforts of the group last weekend to make it so easy today solo. Some kind of karma pay back, not that I'm into all that granola stuff, despite my scruffy beard.
