Comments
Comments: Well packed Crawford path with a light powder that got about 2-3 inches deep as you neared treeline. Big drifts just before the junction with Webster Cliff trail. From there toward Ike, the snow was deeper in drifts and wind blown to almost gone on open ledges and the usual drifts. I marked my trail with surveyors tape so that i would be sure to get back even though the sun was out partially and trying to get out above thin clouds. The visibility was good, temps above zero and wind almost non existent. Now for the problem, I followed the trail and often faint tracks
until the last uphill before the loop trail. I could not see any sign of the trail past a big cairn so I started following faint tracks that went left and much lower than the trail until I reached a point where they were not seen and I knew I was quite a ways from the trail but did not intend to bushwhack through the trees to where it probably was. So even though the summit was close, I turned around and picked up my tape on the way. If I should have missed any don't use it for a guide and do not follow the tracks that go left after the first big cairn.
