Comments
Comments: Based on recent reports left house early expecting to need 5-6 hrs to do the last 3.3 mi (oldnslow). Broke 4-6" on the first 1.7 of Signal Ridge trail. I stayed on the original trail which was untouched as expected. When trails rejoin in about 1/8 mi trail was same as first 1.7 mi - tracked after last weeks storm, 4-6" from last couple days. Broke 6-10" from there to the summit. Fierce wind on the ridge under beautiful blue sky. Warm. Sun was melting the snow in the trees above the cabin site causing 'shoes to cake up. To the extent that one guy packs a track Carrigain is now tracked. Many thanks to whoever broke the 16"+ that fell last Thurs. N.B to Forest Service: You can build a ridiculous reroute but you can't make us walk it. Esp. now why go 1/4 mi out of your way? Beaver dam crossing is bridged with logs and ice.
