It looked like someone broke out the trail yesterday. Thanks!! There were a few folks a head of me today so the dusting from last night and the new drifts were broken out. I passed 2 bare booters on my way up and 6 more on my way down. The lower part of Glencliff Trail was well consolidated and held up under their attack but the upper part is now a mess. Only myself and 2 others enjoyed how easy it was to hike in snowshoes in todays conditions.
The upper Glencliff and the ridge had lots of drifts. In the shelter of the trees the wind was tolerable but above the tree line it was blowing hard enough to make walking difficult and the wind chill very cold. Needless to say the trip to the summit was a quick touch and go. The nice sunshine in the valley was no where to be found on Moosilauke today but still a great day to out on the trails. |
