Pretty easy day for Pepper. I was worried we might find deep snow although with several other hikers along to break trail I knew Pepper would handle it. But A&A had done a great job breaking the trail yesterday, Lucky Laura had packed down the new snow, and our snowshoes made for a great base for him to hike on. I treated his paws with Vaseline, and he jumped the small open drainages, and thus he had only minor paw icing. He really enjoyed being part of the guys. We saw one other dog later in the day, a lab type, that was having fun. |

Found one white sock. Georg thinks it is a match to a sock he found on a prior hike when he met A&A. |

A big thanks to A&A for breaking the trail yesterday. It must have been a real workout yesterday, and it produced a fantastic snowshoe base today. Lucky Laura had been up before us packing any new snow. There were some drifts on the ridge but these were small and insignificant. The base remains unconsolidated so snowshoes remain the obvious choice. It would be a great time to snowshoe this trail. Mt. Cabot trail was not broken out. We had a great group, including Per & Georg, Bill C, Marty D and ourselves. It was a wonderful day on the trails. |
