Comments
Comments: A group of nine of us attempted Mt. Lafayette yesterday, but didn't summit, or reach Greenleaf Hut. We made it as far as a bit beyond Eagle Pass before hitting our turnaround time.

It was snowshoes all the way, as we broke out the lower Greenleaf Trail, which had a foot of fresh powder, with deeper drifts. This slowed our pace considerably, down to about 1/2 mile per hour. Our original plan was to ascend via Greenleaf and descend via Old Bridle Path to Lafayette Place, where we had left a couple of cars. Still a great hike though, and winter has finally arrived in the Whites! Eagle Pass is wild and beautiful and would be a great destination in itself.

The earlier forecast of high winds didn't happen, and temps stayed in the 20s with a light snow falling off and on all day. We only saw one other person, who had gone up OBP and was coming down Greenleaf. She said she appreciated our hard work! :)
