Comments
Comments: Gorgeous day. Ascended well packed out Falling Waters Trail to the falls in spikes. Some pretty good ice for awhile so shifted to crampons to the ridge. Could have used snowshoes from Shining Rock. Once to the ridge we thought spikes would be right but after the second huge drift we put on snowshoes and they were on back to the car. A little scratchy at times but the ridge and descent from Lafayette were well drifted in places. Passed a large group in spikes on Falling Waters. It had to have been hard for them the rest of the way where there was much more snow. Far ranging views today..only a light breeze though there was a bite in the air. Report moot with the storm coming in as we could see the cloud shield approaching. This was a great above treeline day. Thanks Valerie for a great day out
