Glorious day. A tale of 2 trails today for sure. Crawford path to the Webster Cliff jct hard packed and bootable/ spikes as there are a couple of minor ice patches. Very nice footing, snowladen trees, virtually no winds at this elevation had the words presi day heard a couple of times. Never seen a tent set up right at the cairn on Pierce but there was one there today at noon..wow. We took about five steps towards Eisenhower and put the snowshoes on. Trail across the ridge heavily drifted in places and sadly badly postholed by the inconsiderate ones. It was so bad in places we rebroke trail off to the side of the frequently 2-3 foot deep postholes so there is some relief anyway for those in snowshoes which was kind of fun in the excellent powder. Previous poster mentioned that perhaps the trail will get better in a few days..could have been great today if the half dozen folks we saw had snowshoes on..sorr y for the rant. The summit of Eisenhower was flat calm..some clouds around the higher summits. Gorgeous day out there..thanks Valerie |
