Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition. On Nineteen Mile Brook Trail there is one tree across the trail at 6 feet above the surface. On the Carter-Moriah Trail on the north slope of Carter Dome there is a tree leaning over trail which may pose a problem if the snow pack grows by two or three feet. A small tree is across the Carter-Moriah Trail at about 1.5 feet above the snow on the north approach to Mt Hight. None of these trees is a problem at this time.

Comments
Comments: Nice loop today. Trails are now all packed out except Rainbow and Black Angel which usually receive no winter traffic. I broke trail from Carter Lake to a point just uphill from the view spur trail (the steep section). At this point Bill Cronin and RJW were heading down from the summit as they had broken trail from Zeta Pass over Mt Hight to meeting me. The Wildcat Ridge Trail looked well travelled. Had a nice conversation with a college teacher from Gorham on the side of Carter Dome. Great views especially from Mt Hight although Clay and Jefferson were hidden in clouds. Very little exposed ice. I used snowshoes with built in traction with good results.
