I was surprised to see the trail unbroken, however someone did break a trail in the opposite direction of the blue blazed trail. Something has happened to the sign and the arrow also points in the opposite direction. So we decided to try the "broken out" trail. After about a quarter mile it is obvious that this is not the trail and there a numerous "bushwhack" trails heading to the blue blazed trail. Our group decided to go back to the beginning and break out the Blue Blazed trail. From there it was great snow shoeing until just above treeline where the first people up lost the trail and there are again "bushwhacks" all over. We managed to reconnect with the trail and head to the summit. On the way back down someone found the blazed trail so now the "blue blazed" trail is broken out from end to end with numerous alternatives. snowshoes were needed and worked great. |
