Put snowshoes on at the car and left them on until we got back. Saw no ice today. The trail was lightly used until we passed by the Mt. Tom spur. The A-Z trail to Zealand was untouched and the Willey Range Trail had seen one snowshoer. Baxter and I packed the trail as good as we could. Once the Avalon Trail joined back in the trail was better packed. On the way to Willey someone lost the trail and then we were back to breaking trail again. If you find yourself standing on a blow-down you are going the wrong way and need to go right. Quick return trip on the same trails. It had snowed a little so our tracks were not even visible. Met Dale, a fellow "Grid" hiker just below the Willey summit. |
