This was a nice walk in the woods until I arrived at the loop trail. A poster from the previous day recommended only spikes for the entire day. So I left my snowshoes in the car. That was a mistake. It was tough going on the ascend. Thank God for my poles and upper body strength. Another lesson learned today: Never hike on just one day rest after a heavy squat workout. My quads cramped up. Had to stop and stretch about every 10 minutes. It was miserable. This is also the first hike I've done where I hadn't seen a sole. Had both mountains to myself. |
