| Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hopping possible on all. Newly fallen snow made some of the AMC built bridges tricky to find, and it was easy to fall through powder into streams if trekking poles weren't used to see whether it was solid underneath. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
several large blowdowns that were passable, but for taller hikers like myself with large packs, quite annoying to get under. A few small blowdowns as well. |

| Comments: |
We hiked up to the Kinsman Pond Shelter on 4/18, arrived around dinner time. With soaked clothing on the outside from a very wet rain/snow combo and soaked inside from sweat, we did not attempt North Kinsman - stayed over night in the shelter. On the morning of 4/19 while heading back down to Lafayette Place, the fresh 11" of snow covered our tracks pretty well. Saw a number of people with snow shoes who ended up taking them off, because as long as you stay on the trails, they were solidly packed with no post holing. Trekking poles were a must. |
