Comments
Comments: Parked at the Basin and took the bike path. Broke out the bushwhack up to the hairpin turn on LST. Bare booted until we got past the open hardwoods then threw on our snow shoes for the up. A few inches of fresh powder and no ice made for great footing. The wind howled at us the entire way up to just shy of the summit where it just magically stopped! There was several inches of fresh powder in the col with some small drifts. Saw a solo hiker coming down Flume as we were headed up who had come up FST. We had been toying with the idea of going down FST and decided to give it a go! There was lots of fresh powder and minimal to no exposed ice (though I am sure we wiped some of the ice clean sliding down some parts). We were extremely careful and had a ton of fun coming down! I definitely would not recommend this as a descent route for 99% of the hiking population.

It was a frigid start to the day but the sun was shining and the clouds went almost completely away. The wind subsided for periods of time which was nice. Nice to see some views and fresh powder on the trails!
