I wore micros the whole day but packed crampons just in case. I thought about changing over to crampons at the bottom of the ravine based on Bill Cronin's report but didn't want to stop. There was enough snow on the ice to feel secure in most spots or it was easy to by-pass the ice if it was exposed. The winds were around 25mph on the ridge and the trail had been drifted over in some spots. I would expect the trail to be covered by the end of today. I feel there was enough snow to wear snowshoes if someone preferred the use of televators for the steeps. I didn't see anybody out until I was almost back to the ravine. It was a nice quiet morning out. |
