Water Crossing Notes: The lower brook was easy, but one thing to note: Be careful - over that fresh layer of fluffy snow are round, smooth rocks covered with rocks. Looks deceiving.

Comments
Comments: Since there hasn't been much snow, I left my snowshoes in my jeep; since the temperature was at a "balmy" 23 degrees, I wore my fleece gloves; and since the couple I saw hitting the trail were only wearing their boots [without any additional traction], I put on my microspikes [although I did pack my crampons & mittens…just in case].
I didn't need to pull out my trekking poles until that last mile of Stony Brook Trail; and when I got to the Carter-Moriah Trail - it would've been easier [and SAFER] if I had on my crampons…but I didn't want to bother digging them out. Lazy, I guess.
