Comments
Comments: 2-4" of new snow, starting at the parking lot. Put on snowshoes pretty quickly, as it was just enough to make barebooting uncomfortable (were able to bareboot Livermore on the way back due to the packing, as well as some melting). Quasi-trailbreaking. Little snowpack under the new snow on Livermore. Bushwhacked from the north Mt. Tripyramid junction up to Scaur Ridge (and did a slightly different variation on the way down...the western variation is probably better right now). Scaur Ridge Trail had a monorail underneath 3-4" of new snow up to the gully, then frozen granular under the new snow up to Pine Bend Brook. Right around here, the new snow went from wet/sticky to more of a dry powder. No tracks coming up Pine Bend Brook Trail. Broke out to Middle Tripyramid and back - generally frozen granular under about 4" of powder, some traces of frozen granular monorail. Trail finding could be tough if you don't know the route. Frozen granular base on Pine Bend Brook steeps (under new snow) could be tough if your snowshoes don't have good crampons. Flex Alps and MSRs were adequate. Light snow falling all morning above Livermore Trail.
