| Comments: |
Ravine Lodge Road and most of Gorge Brook Trail are fine in light traction -- there is a trace to two inches of snow down low over a thick layer of blue ice. For the last half mile up to the summit, snowshoes are helpful (the trail is quite drifty, with 1-3 feet of snow in places).
Windy today up top -- our tracks disappeared in minutes.
With all of the reports of melting snow and snowless areas further north, we were in for a treat: plenty of snow cover and bright white as far as the eye could see, from car to summit. Absolutely gorgeous.
Carriage Road was drifted in -- no one else had been up that way today. Beaver Brook had one or two sets of recent bareboot tracks that were halfway filled in when we summitted. Other than that, we saw no one nor any other evidence of anyone on the trails all day. |
