while the winds were low and entertained thoughts of going higher the cloud cover and freezing rain and sleet made Kinsmans a good choice for the day. virtually no snow to Bald Knob. above there pretty much a solid rail of ice, soft today with a little snow on it made for good ascent in light traction to the ridge. ridge trail had a few inches of snow above ice..traction good in most places, the ledges were a bit tricky in spots. a bit of a breeze with moisture in the air made it chilly on south but really a pretty warm day for mid january . descent went quickly on the sticky snow. thanks john and pepper for a good day out |
