| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was the only car in the lot in the AM at the Hancock lot. Plenty of room this time of year. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Easily rock hopped. The few snow bridges that had developed are now collapsing or collapsed. Not an issue on this route. Some of the usual wet spots are wet which seems really odd for January! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good shape. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Jack and Andy had no problems and enjoy this loop. A good trip for experienced and novice canines. Always good water available. |

| Comments: |
The trails couldn't be faster right now. No need at all for snowshoes. It's all about choosing the right traction. I wore spikes all the way except for coming down South Hancock. Opted to take the time and put on crampons. It was a good decision. Came down much faster and more confident then if I was wearing spikes. (338/576) |
