Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Due to bridge-work most of the parking lot at Nineteen Mile Brook trailhead was/is occupied by a big trailer and several work-vehicles. Parking capacity is substantially reduced.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Ice - Breakable Crust
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Bridged/frozen or easy rock-hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A handful of blowdowns - mostly on the North Carter and Imp trails - but all easy to deal with. Thanks to John's saw-work we were able to remove a particular awkward blowdown on the North Carter Tr.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Pepper and Cinnilla - the faithful companions - had a great outing with generally straightforward and easy trail-conditions. The icy-sections here and there did not trouble them too much and the crossings were easy to deal with. The most difficult section was the upper part of the Carter Dome trail due to the deep postholes (see below). This is a bad section for dogs but Pepper & Cinnilla got through it without incidents.

Comments
Comments: All trails are well consolidated. Georg, John and I used light-traction, then snowshoes and then back to light traction.
A moose has badly postholed the section of the Carter Dome trail from the Black Angel Jct. to the summit. The footing is awkward - especially for dogs. We used snowshoes and attempted to smoothen it out but had only limited success.
