Had hoped to have more of a weather window based on yesterdays forecast. Flurries all day. Crawford Path to Pierce is well packed and rock solid. No postholes. The ridge had some small drifting and some powder but its pretty well packed. Based upon other reports in the last couple days we left snowshoes behind and all of us carried crampons. Some ice along the way but spikes and care were adequate. One spot just past the junction with Eisenhower Loop required great care though we descended off the trail to avoid the treacherous ice on the rock ledge. Hardly spent a minute on the summit of Eisenhower. Quite windy not too cold though. Visibility 200 feet. Great day to tag these peaks in January. Thanks Bill Steve and John!! |
