Comments
Comments: Started from Appalachia parking lot at noon (as per forecast of clear summits and lower wind speeds toward the end of the day), followed Airline all the way to the summit, windy above treeline, intermittent biting cold wind gusts from the west. Became steady as I climbed higher. Summit clear of clouds, unlike yesterday (reached at 2:40pm), all other Presidential peaks visible from the top of Mt. Adams. Trail is in great condition, hardpacked snow, lots of glissading ice on trail, microspikes suffice (with careful footing in steeper sections), ice axe useful. Above treeline, lots of scrambling but easy to navigate with all the rock cairns. Returned via the Gulfside trail to Madison Hut and down the Valley Way trail back to Appalachia. Back at the parking lot at 4:10pm. Another great day of winter hiking in the White Mountains.
