| Comments: |
There isn't enough snow at the trailhead to cover the leaves on the ground. The trail is a ribbon of ice most of the way, covered by a dusting of snow. We used spikes to the spring and then switched to crampons. There are some impressive ice flows for a couple hundred yards after the side trail to the spring. We left the crampons on for the rest of the hike. Snowshoes are totally not needed unless you want the extra exercise carrying them like I did. Almost no wind, and 7 degrees on the summit. Blue sky and sun made for a nice lunch at the outlook. |
