Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None were fully bridged but all were either easily rock hoppable or doable with some creativity. Our boots stayed dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few easy duck-unders and step-overs. Pine Brook Bend was a messy, choppy, postholed frozen mess all the way to the Mt. Tripyramid junction then the same up to the summit of North Tri. Mt. Tripyramid trail over to Middle Tri was a beautiful packed out sidewalk with no post holes. We carried snow shoes but they were useless today as the single digit temps kept the trail solid. Wish it had been a bit warmer so we could have packed down that mess. Scaur Ridge trail had seen some recent action (chatted with 2 men who came up that way) and Sabbaday Brook Trail also looked like it had seen some action in the last week. The steeps on Pine Bend were pure ice with about a half inch of snow on top. Made for some hairy moments both going up and down. We bushwhacked around some spots, some may feel more comfortable with crampons here.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs today, the ice covered steeps on Pine Bend could have been an issue
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a Hillsound (Pro I think? The style that is comparable to Kahtoola Microspikes) just before the wilderness boundary on Pine Bend). We left it hanging on the top of the trail head sign on the Kanc.

Comments
Comments: I would wait until we get another dumping of snow (or some warmer temps) before heading out on this route. The post holes were easy enough to pick around on the way up but very tedious coming down. What a shame.

Our day started with clouds, flurries, lots of wind and 5 degrees warm. By the time we got to Middle Tri the sun broke through and we had some views from the outlook! We had some rays of sunshine and more clearing by the time we got back to North Tri so we attempted to head down to the top of the slide to take in some views. We were greeted with fierce winds about half way down (not to mention we were now breaking trail) so we turned around. All in all another great day in the mountains! Thanks Kyle for a great day out!
