Happy New Year!! we wore snowshoes car to car though most of the flat sections of trail were fine for spikes or bareboot. the problems were on the many water crossings where barebooters were punching through all over the place.. Thanks Guys!! saw some skiers taking advantage of the 12 inches or snow of nice light snow. trail filled in well and footing was good. very windy in places. we went up north where televators made for a good ascent on mostly packed surface..some ice but not bad. no lingering today in the cold and wind. ridge trail lightly packed and drifted in places..a real fun snowshoe through at times a narrow snowfilled corridor. descent from south went quickly with a combination of shoe skiing and butt sliding..some obstacles remain!!! great though chilly day out to ring in the new year with good friends. thanks valerie, john and pepper, and cynthia for a fine day out\ |
