Headed up to Crawford Notch planning to make a quick trip to Jackson. However, when I ran in to two friendly hikers whom I had met last winter I opted to join them on Eisenhower and Pierce.
Crawford path up to the Pierce/Eisenhower col was a quick hike in hillsounds light traction. Trace amounts of snow coating ice. We stuck with hillsounds (light traction not the pros) the entire trip, but I checked off traction because it could be desired. Over to Eisenhower was a mix of ice, snow drifts and bare rock. Snowshoes would have been of no use today as all drifting was intermittent and fairly shallow. Fairly windy today.
Very grateful that I was able to do this hike unexpectedly today. Thanks.
